This report is used to compare two logs to identify the products that are different. Once the product differences have been identified, the cause of the difference can be found by looking at the product’s history for the same time period. Use the Inventory Totals – Product History screen to review a product’s history.
For example: If you ran a log from history for May 31st (log #1) and two weeks later ran another log from history for May 31st (log #2) and the totals were different perform the following:
Run the Inventory Log Comparison report for log 1 and log 2 to identify the products that are different.
Use the Product History to determine the source of the difference. Perhaps a transaction that was originally dated in June was back dated to May after log 1 was run.
Correct the date of transaction that was causing the difference and re-run the log.
